The year 2024. The summer holiday between second and third year at university. 2024年。大二升大三的暑假。

The summer holiday passed in the blink of an eye. This particular summer break, between my second and third years, was quite special for me. Two days after completing the final exams for the second semester of my second year, I went on a three-day, two-night trip to Taichung with my father. The National Museum of Natural Science was the sight that left the deepest impression on me; I realised that visiting exhibitions offers an opportunity for profound understanding and learning of knowledge. In early July, I also completed the course “The Strategy of Content Marketing” by UC Davis through the online platform Coursera. The instructor recommended that students create their own personal websites using WordPress, not only to support subsequent coursework but also to assist with future job applications. Consequently, I searched online for tutorials and taught myself how to build a website, and shortly afterwards, my personal website was born （https://wei-chengwang.com/）. In the latter half of July, I shifted my focus towards preparing for overseas study examinations.
暑假轉眼間就過去了，大二升大三的這個暑假對我而言蠻特別的。大二下期末考結束後過2天便和家父一同去台中3天2夜的旅行，其中最讓我印象深刻的景點是國立自然科學博物館，發覺參觀展覽是對知識一種深度認識和學習的機會。7月上旬也透過線上課程平台coursera完成了UC Davis The Strategy of Content Marketing的課程，課程裡講師建議學員們透過wordpress建立屬於自己的個人網站，不單是為了輔助後續課程的進行，對日後求職也有所幫助。於是我便上網搜尋相關影片自學如何建立網站，不久後我的個人網站也誕生了（https://wei-chengwang.com/）。七月中下旬，我則是將生活重心轉移至留學考試的準備。

At the beginning of August, I practised the IELTS reading section for the first time. There were 40 questions in total, of which I answered 33 correctly. According to the official scoring conversion, correctly answering 30 questions in the academic reading section corresponds to a band score of 7, so my score can be said to have exceeded 7. What does a band 7 mean? It meets the threshold for studying abroad. However, it was a pity that I completed the test using only fragmented moments and without timing myself, so my control over answering speed requires improvement. I believe there is still much room for practice and progress, such as answering techniques, reading speed, and vocabulary volume. At the same time, I aim to gradually cultivate the habit of reading long texts. In the subsequent days of August, I truly embodied the principle of “perseverance and dedication lead to mastery.” When memorising vocabulary, I not only learnt the meanings but also paid special attention to British and American pronunciations, synonyms, derivatives, chunks, set phrases, and word partnerships.
8月初第一次練習了雅思IELTS的閱讀。總共40題，我答對 33題。根據官方公佈的分數換算來看，學術閱讀組答對30題就是7分，也就是我的分數可以說已經高於7分，7分是什麼概念？就是符合出國留學的門檻了。不過這次測驗較為可惜的是我都是利用零散時間作答，並沒有計時，因此在答題速度上的掌控能力還有待提升，自認還有很多可以練習和進步的空間，例如答題技巧、閱讀速度、詞彙量等，同時也要慢慢建立長篇閱讀的習慣。在8月後續的日子裡，我「真積力久則入」，背單字時不單只是了解這個字的意思，單字的英式和美式讀音、同義詞、衍伸字、chunks、set-phrases 和 word partnerships我也都有多加留意！

Also in early August, upon a friend’s invitation, I began a one-month free trial at a gym. I had been considering going to the gym as early as the previous summer but had lacked the opportunity and was also concerned about potential negative effects on my body, so I had not taken the step to start exercising there. Having noticed my basketball shooting technique gradually stabilising, I felt it was time to undertake some strength and fitness training, and thus began my gym experience. Overall, this one-month trial dispelled many of my preconceived notions about gyms. The space was spacious and air-conditioned, the equipment well-maintained, and I saw many elderly people exercising there. In future winter and summer holidays, or whenever time permits, I intend to continue training at the gym.
同時在8月初，我也在好友的邀請下，展開在健身房為期一個月免費的健身體驗。其實早在上一個暑假便有想去健身的念頭，可惜一直苦無機會，也擔心會對身體帶來負面影響，所以始終沒有踏出去健身房運動的那一步。正好自覺籃球投籃動作已有逐漸穩定下來的趨勢，是時候進行一些增強體力和力量的訓練，因此就開始了健身體驗。總結來說，這一個月的健身體驗，打破了我對健身房許多既有的偏見。空間寬敞，並且都有開空調，設備維護良好，同時也看見許多高齡長輩在健身房運動。之後寒暑假，或甚至時間上允許，我想我也會持續在健身房鍛鍊。

One of the most important matters after the term began was to “maintain good academic performance and hope that the overall semester grades for every subject in the first semester of my third year will be above 80.” I wish for a peaceful, safe, and stable life. I pray that the academic pressure at university will not be too great. I aspire to live with a positive and proactive attitude. I hope to receive an award in the business competition I have enrolled in this semester.
開學後最重要的事情之一便是：「把在校成績顧好，希望三年級上學期每一科的學期總成績都能在『80分以上』。」願生活一切平靜、平安、安穩。祈禱學校課業壓力不要太大。期許自己能以正向積極的態度生活。這學期報名參加的商業競賽能夠獲獎。
